Pakistan Successfully Test-Fires Shaheen-II Ballistic Missile

Islamabad: On Tuesday, Pakistan successfully carried out a training launch of the Shaheen-II surface-to-surface ballistic missile, as confirmed by the military’s media affairs wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to an official statement from the ISPR, the purpose of the training launch was to enhance the proficiency of troops, validate various technical parameters, and evaluate the performance of different sub-systems integrated to improve accuracy and enhance the missile’s survivability.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division, the Army Strategic Forces Command, as well as scientists and engineers from strategic organizations. The Director General of the Strategic Plans Division commended the technical expertise, dedication, and commitment of the scientists who played a pivotal role in achieving this significant milestone.

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and the chiefs of the armed services extended their congratulations to the scientists and engineers involved in this achievement.

This launch follows Pakistan’s recent successful training launch of the Fateh-II Guided Rocket System in May, which has a range of 400 kilometers. The ISPR had highlighted that the Fateh-II system is being integrated into Pakistan’s artillery divisions for precision strikes on deep targets, significantly enhancing the range and lethality of the conventional arsenal.

In October 2023, Pakistan also conducted a successful test flight of the Ababeel weapons system, aimed at bolstering deterrence and enhancing strategic stability in the region.
